Chapter 8
Mind if I ask why, Ned said to V.
Jax has pretty much been here with me through this whole thing. He has absolutely no life.
He wants to be here for you. Sort of that big brother protector thing he has with you.
Yeah. I know that, but things are...things are bad. He needs to live his life.
He hasnt done that since he left Brenda. Or maybe even before he left Brenda.
Whats that supposed to mean, V asked.
Im not sure that Jax was ever really intent on going back to Brenda. I think that Jax is a man of his word and he had made some lofty promises to Brenda all those years ago and
when he found out that Skye had betrayed him, he didnt know what to do, so he felt obligated to Brenda, Ned theorized.
But he loved her.
He loved Skye, too.
Whyd you come by, Alexis, Jax asked.
To see V. I came a little early. She was still asleep. But, I left a note for her. I have an appointment with my psychiatrist, though.
Hows that going?
Ok. I guess. Ill see you?
Sure. Ill probably still be here when your appointment is over, Jax said.
Skye walked into Vs room. Ned was humming some tune, while V had fallen asleep. Skye walked up behind Ned, and she softly put her hand on his shoulder. He turned. Hows she doing, Skye asked.
Ned motioned to go out to the hall. They went out. Ned cleared his throat. Shes worse, and shes afraid that shes not going to make it.
Skye hugged Ned. She could tell this whole situation was getting to him. Just have to hope.
Jax knocked on Camerons office door. Come in, Cameron called from inside the room.
Jax walked in. Cameron looked up from a file on his desk. Jax.
Hi. Jax sat down across the desk from Cameron. I wanted to talk to you about Alexis.
Well, Im not sure that there is anything that I can discuss with you.
This is important. I have been gone for awhile, so I have missed some things. I know that Alexis has lost all visitation rights with Kristina and that Skye and Ned have custody.
Yes.
And now, Alexis has asked me to marry her.
Shes asked you to marry her, Cameron said with disbelief.
Yeah. And Id do almost anything for her, but after everything thats happened recently...
You couldnt say that now?
Jax nodded. I would like to help Alexis.
I know. So would I. But after everything that Alexis has done, I dont think that suddenly getting married is going to get her any kind of custody arrangement.
Alexis was walking out of the hospital, when AJ was on his way in. Well, if it isnt the hypocrite Alexis Davis.
AJ, she said in an exasperated tone.
What are you doing here, AJ asked.
Thats none of your business. She started to walk off.
AJ called back to her. Tell me something, you miss Kristina? AJ smirked.
Alexis turned and got in AJs face. Of course I do! Shes my daughter!
You finally know how it feels then. He stepped closer to Alexis. I think about what might have been, if I could have been a father to Michael. Things would have been so
different. Too much time has gone by. Alexis, you dont want to lose these years. You will never get them back.
Alexis could sense that AJ was up to something, he was always up to something. But since he kept referring to Kristina, she couldnt resist, so she asked, What do you want?
Nothing. Its just that, well, maybe I could help you.
In exchange for my soul? No thank you. Alexis stomped off.
Youll come around. AJ stood there and laughed.
Jax walked back to Vs hospital room to see Skye and Ned standing outside. Have you seen Alexis, he asked the two.
Not recently, Ned answered.
I guess she left, then. Jax sighed.
Something wrong, Skye asked.
No. Jax looked down, then back up at Skye and Ned. I just needed to tell her something, but I guess it wait. Jax started for Vs door, but Ned stopped him. What are you doing?
Skye and I are taking you to dinner.
What about V, Jax asked.
Macs in there visiting with her right now. Besides, she told me that you needed get a life, Ned told his friend. Jax let out a small laugh.
Come on, Jax, you look like you could eat a moose, Skye joked.
Jax laughed. Come to think of it I am famished. The Grill?
Sounds good. Then you can go up to your hotel room, clean yourself up and meet us downstairs, Ned suggested.
Oh, come on, you dont like the stubble, Jax joked, stroking his own chin.
Ned shook his head. Lets go.
A man in his mid to late fifties wearing a sheriffs uniform walked up to the desk at the nurses station. Hello. My daughter is Venus Ardanowski. I was hoping to speak to her
doctor, and get an update on her condition, he said to a nurse who was standing there.
From the other side of the station. Youre in luck, a doctor said, as he walked over. Im Dr. Fleming, you daughters physician. I have some news for you.
>>One finally note: I have to admit I hate to re-write GH history, and I didn't realize it when I did it. But, I happened to be sorting through some old tapes, and as it turns out, both of V's parents are dead. She talked about it with Jax after *you know who* had "died". Anyhow, for the purposes of this story we'll just pretend that her father is still alive.
